About Janet

Welcome to Psychology One-to-One. I specialise in supporting people who are struggling with emotional distress, trauma, mental health issues and relationship difficulties. I provide clinical psychology assessment and treatment and am able to draw upon a wealth of experience in order to tailor therapy appropriately for your needs. I provide a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches in a safe, comfortable and confidential space and find that my genuinely empathic nature facilitates the process of therapy. I work with sensitivity to create an atmosphere in which you will feel heard and where you will start to develop an understanding of what is driving and maintaining your difficulties. This understanding will help to build the foundations for change. I will be committed to working together with you to help you understand your symptoms and to develop strategies which will help you to live a more fulfilling life.

I have twenty-five years of experience working across various settings. Six years ago, I founded Psychology One-to-One in order to focus solely on offering one-to-one psychological therapy. I offer a professional and personalised face-to-face service incorporating my values of integrity, compassion and respect. I have supported many people through therapy over the years and have helped them to move forward from adversity, trauma and debilitating symptoms leading to improved wellbeing in their daily life.

I will respond personally to your enquiry and take care to provide an individualised approach. I’m an approachable person and am happy to respond to queries via email or over the phone. Please feel free to email or phone me with any enquiries. You’re welcome to say a little about what it is you would like help with or with any questions. I can also offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation to discuss your needs.

Benefits from Working with Janet

I’m trained in a broad range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches and work as an integrative clinical psychologist. This enables me to provide well-researched psychological approaches that have been demonstrated to help improve people’s psychological and emotional wellbeing.

Through my training and experience, I’ve learned the value of integrating psychological approaches and being flexible with what people feel able and ready to engage with when seeking therapy. I will work collaboratively with you to consider different therapy options and to develop an appropriate plan for therapy.

This may involve focusing more on the present day and perhaps drawing from CBT approaches or may be more about focusing on past experiences and drawing from Trauma-Focused approaches. Either way, we will work together to make sense of what is underlying, driving and maintaining your difficulties as a starting point for change. I will be committed to working ethically with you to help you make an informed decision about the type of therapy that would be most appropriate. Whatever the nature of your difficulties, we will work together to identify the first steps in relieving and preventing further suffering.

Psychotherapists are mental health professionals who are trained to listen to a person’s problems to help to find out what’s causing them and work to find a solution. As well as listening and discussing important issues with you, a psychotherapist can suggest strategies for resolving problems and, if necessary, help you change your attitudes and behaviour.
