Hi, I am Kathryn
Yoga has changed my life! In fact, it had such a huge impact on me, that at the age of 53 I trained to become a yoga teacher.
I’d love to share my joy and love for this incredible practice with you!
I am a qualified 300hrs Yoga Teacher, having trained with Debbie Farrar (Feel Now Yoga) and also a qualified Teen Yoga Coach, having trained with Charlotta Martinus, (Teen Yoga Foundation)
I have also more recently trained as a Yoga Nidra Teacher with Jennie Wadsten and Melanie Cooper.
The yoga I teach is gentle, sensible and accessible. With an emphasis on positively reconnecting the body and mind through the breath.
The practices I offer are of a somatic* nature and are, therefore, an invitation to really tune into our own felt sense of the practice – as it is ‘right now’. The aim is to explore how we can work with our bodies and our breath and to sense how we might create harmony between the two.
(*def’n – somatic: of, relating to, or affecting the body)
Classes are for everyone and everybody…the focus is on the gentle, slow movement of the body, whilst working with our own unique anatomy; and not about achieving ‘the perfect shape’. Instead, the focus is on breathing rhythmically as we move – to create a balance of ‘effortless’ effort – moving in and out of, or even when ‘holding’ physical poses and the creation of a natural state of comfort.
Breathing and moving in this way can help to calm the nervous system and also help us to move in both a steady and easeful way.
As well as a gentle physical (asana) practice, and focused breathwork (pranayama), there may be short mediations and there’s always plenty of time for relaxation (savasana).
All of this is offered with a smattering of yoga philosophy and a sprinkling of poetry!
I look forward to practicing with you!
The yoga I teach is of a gentle somatic nature (felt sense) and practices encompass the full 8 Limbs of Yoga. In particular, practices are designed to work gently with the joints with an emphasis on what feels right in the body. Moving slowly and deliberately with the body and breath to achieve a sense of general well-being.
Yoga Nidra invites the slowing down of thoughts, a deep sense of connection, self-compassion, self-awareness and interoception and can also contribute to the ability to relax, enhance emotional regulation and soothe the nervous system.
